What's Up With International Adoption ?

Well, here's my rant. I talked via email to the agency we adopted Lauren from yesterday and apparently every country is going to almost 2 years out from log in date to referral. I am at a point of decision and I honestly don't know which way to go. China was my first choice but the wait is 25+ months and they are expecting it to go higher, Vietnam is listed as almost 2 years also,so I looked into Taiwan and it's listing 12-18 months. Why the long waits, why the price increases ? When we adopted Lauren it was a 7 month wait and now it's over 2 years ? Ugh. All I want is a sibling for Lauren, why is it so hard to adopt now ?

I hear ya, sister! I've got the same rants! Why so long, why the cost increases? And all I want is a sibling for Josie!

And it gets worse... the long wait times are causing a huge amount of stress within the adoption community - I've been called selfish for wanting a sibling for Josie! I was told I should NOT adopt again and allow those without children the chance to adopt first. UGH.

Okay Michelle and I won't stop your rant, we will join right in with you... we hear your frustration and share your exasperation.

We have been watching emails back and forth and now the MOU may not be renewed for Vietnam which complicates things as well. I recall challenges with JiaLi and being impatient for the day to come but the waits now are nearly intolerable and seem insurmountable. There are in general so many children in this world that need a family. Why is it so hard to adopt??? UGH is right we second that sentiment! We are trying to be patient we will all have a good group session in April!

I will need a stiff drink by April!! If the MOU is not renewed then our year and a half wait is for nothing and I am sure no $$ will come back to go elsewhere...I really don't know what to do at this point. I have looked into Taiwan, Korea and the Phillipines so far (obviously we want an Asian sister for Annslee LOL) and they are just as long and possibly unstable...grrrrrrrr

I truly understand - for me it is not the wait though it is Molly's health and I just could not handle the stress of 2. I am so sad that Molly may be an only child. It is so frustrating though, why does it have to be so hard? I thought though that you were all logged into vietnam?

I haven't been paying attention to what has been going on with adoptions. I didn't know it had gotten so long, everywhere. I was hit hard by China's restrictions. At the time I wasn't sure if two was right for our family, then the choice was taken from me. I had assumed if I adopted again, it would be with China.
Hang in there guys! Imagine a BIG hug from Liana and me coming your way! See you soon!!
